Along almost 20 km of the Moselle, from Nennig to Rehlingen, Sauerweins cultivates white and red grape varieties, including over 20% Elbling, the oldest German vine. Under the motto "Pure Diversity", they cultivate 20 varieties such as Auxerrois, Cabernet Cortis, Chardonnay, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder, Elbling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Kerner, Ortega, Regent, Riesling, Rivaner, Roter Riesling, Sankt Laurent, Schwarzriesling, Solaris, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Pinot Blanc. The shell limestone soils warm up quickly and are ideal for Elbling and Burgundy. A third of the vineyards are steep slopes that require a lot of manual labor.
The Dostert family winery in Nittel, on the southern Moselle, cultivates the Elbling, Auxerrois, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grape varieties. The production of Crémant is an important part of the business. In addition to the winery, a guest house is run, which invites you to stay in the region in the border triangle.
